THE CHALLENGE

Create more value for its members. Improve collaboration across IT professionals and national expertise. Reinforce the driving forces to make Norway a leading IT nation. The DND network consists of members, enthusiasts, and speakers. There are approximately 8000 members, 60 academic communities across the country and DND arranges about 300 large and small events across the country.

Our contribution to make Norway a leading IT-nation demands interaction on many levels

Christian Torp, Secretary General at Den Norske Dataforening
“Together with JOIN21, we map the expertise found in and around the DND network and how individuals can gain more from the expertise found among the members of the Data Society. We made a pilot where we tested with 1500 randomly selected individuals in the DND network. In order to understand how best to exercise the facilitator role we have. Today’s interaction we mapped and showed huge untapped potential. The inputs will be of great importance to how we change to ensure better value for our members.”

Christian Torp, Secretary General at Den Norske Dataforening

VALUE-CREATION POTENTIAL

Become the knowledge center companies and politicians go to understand the importance of digitization. We were working on mapping how knowledge and expertise are being utilized today. There is a need for faster and better sharing of best practices. Based on a new vision and strategy, it is important to reinforce DND’s position through creating interactions across the board. There is increased involvement among members and therefore important to facilitate the dynamics between members, business, other similar associations and the political environment. What JOIN21 calls value-networks.
Understand the value of cross-disciplines, and digital ways of work.

CHALLENGES AND FINDINGS
  • Network-analysis showed isolated experts.
  • The expert networks were active but with little interaction between them.
  • Important to connect DND’s new vision to new ways to work.
  • Desire to work across departments and borders.
  • Measure how people connect to the network for learning about automation and streamlining.
RESULT
  • Got quality assured membership lists.
  • A factual basis to better facilitate expert groups.
  • Key insights and good solutions in single networks.
  • Build a venue to show off the good work.
